The cruises
The cruises usually vary in duration from 1½ hours to 3 hours, and even longer cruises are possible up to a maximum of 4½ hours when conditions permit, and if there are clients wanting to venture out . All tours begin and end to allow for specific phases of the tide that allows both a fair passage and easy access and landings.
The North Norfolk coast is perhaps one of the foremost sites in the UK for birdwatchers who are drawn there by the stunning array of species to be seen against a spectacular backdrop of vast landscapes and huge skies. There are always surprises at migration time in the spring and autumn, and throughout the winter there is the spectacle of many thousands of pinkfoot and brent geese moving between the tides and backwards and forwards from roosting to feeding sites. In spring and early summer there are migrating waders like whimbrel and godwits, and arriving breeding birds like ringed plovers, sandwich and little terns. Marsh harriers are likely to be seen, and so are barn owls and passing migrant flycatchers, warblers and chats. Peregrine and merlin are frequently seen during autumn and winter. There will be short walks to see flowers and butterflies in summer, and to reach higher spots for panoramic views of the coast
So each cruise will reveal different elements and species but there are no guarantees as to what will be be seen and where. There is the weather to consider and the state of the tide, the time of day, and simply being in the right place at the right time. But what is guaranteed is a unique experience of wilderness and wildlife.
