Where do I have to be, and when?

At Brancaster Staithe on ‘the hard’ on Harbour Way (gravel by the water edge). Grid ref:TF792443.  Post code for sat-nav PE31 8BW.  Or follow this Branta Cruises link.  Arrive 15 minutes before departure time.

Where do I depart from?

From ‘the hard’ at Brancaster Staithe (see above)

Where do I park?

There is public parking in the area around the Brancaster Staithe Sailing Club in Harbour Way, or there is usually street parking space nearby on the main road through the village.

What shall I wear?

It will always be slightly colder off-shore so warm waterproof clothing, including hat and gloves, are advisable.  For getting ashore wellington boots are essential, and should be comfortable enough for a limited amount of walking.

What other items will I need?

Binoculars and camera advisable but not necessary, and any personal items you usually need for a few hours out and about.

Do I need to take lunch?

No, but if you enjoy a snack now and then please bring your own supply of goodies.  Hot drinks will be available.

What restrictions are there?

As embarking and disembarking will involve stepping into and out of the vessel over variously wet and slippery, sometimes muddy, and occasionally  awkward surfaces, there is an expectation that participants in Branta Cruises will have a basic level of fitness and manœuvering capability .  However, assistance is available and everyone is welcome to join us as every effort will be made to accommodate anyone expressing an interest in  booking a place.

What route will we take?

This is tide & weather dependant, but every cruise will be within the confines of Brancaster & Burnham Overy Staithe Harbours with visits to Scolt Head Island always a priority.

What facilities are available?

There are no toilet facilities onboard the Laura May and on shore in the remote locations we call in at.  However,  in extremis arrangements can be made to stop in one or two specific locations or return to Brancaster, but that would compromise that particular cruise.

Health and Safety

The safety of the crew and passengers is paramount, so there will be a short briefing before departure and life jackets will be issued to each cruise participant.  The skipper will take full responsibility for the safety of the vessel and the people aboard at all times and his decisions on all matters relating to the cruise, its duration and route - and any other eventuality  - are final.
